The Winding Road to TRMC

After studying Energy Business & Finance with a side of Geoscience at the dear old Pennsylvania State University, Alexander Bronner received intense professional experience in upstream oilfield services.

Averaging about 250 nights per year on the road across 6 different states, Alex worked on multiple industrial product lines. When the oil price tumbled in the latter half of 2014, he transferred into a procurement, materials, & logistics group where he took on new challenges in large corporate supply chain. There, he functioned as a demand planner for the single largest cost of Northeast Production Enhancement operations directing the spend of approximately $1 million per week.

In the Autumn of 2016, Alex received a full scholarship to go back to Penn State University full-time for 2 years to pursue his MBA at the Smeal College of Business.

He completed 65 credits focusing on finance and supply chain management; furthermore, he won 2 case competitions, performed a strategic growth project for a small company, and went on an educational trip to Johannesburg, South Africa. In 2017, Alex did financial planning & analysis allowing the company to win a new $75 million contract, or an ~11% division revenue increase. After business school, Alex went to work in a planning role functioning as a linchpin between logistics, customer service, sales, production, and finance. Finally, at the end of 2019, Alex was ready to form Triple River Management Consulting lining up his first customers for early 2020.

While the Covid-19 pandemic was a bit of a roller coaster, significant impacts were still made.

One customer saw a division profitability increase of 67% while another greenlit an investment valued at an 1100% return. Operations capacity analysis allowed a customer to better utilize their personnel and focus on winning more profitable contracts. Alex also refined investment portfolio management techniques building a repeatable process to consistently beat the S&P 500. A small fertilizer manufacturer gained the transparency they lacked to better understand their product profitability, realign ad spend, and optimize inventory management.

In healthcare, one major strategy project highlighted the changing dynamics of Medicare enrollment and profitability. Furthermore, the nuances of a major partnership were evaluated through a potential hospital merger, a freestanding emergency room, and a capital investment in large equipment for cancer treatment. Additionally, a corporate quality model was evaluated and restructured to drive savings of $3M per year, an offshoring playbook was constructed with detailed operating models, and overhead cost structures were broken down to assist annual budgeting.
